Buying Concert Tickets Online

August 17th, 2010

Have you ever wanted to go to a concert so bad you thought you might just scream if you weren’t able to go? Well if you have felt this way you can completely understand how I felt about going to the Country Throw-Down Concert this summer in Bakersfield, California. The Country Throw-Down concert involved big headliner country artists such as: Montgomery Gentry, Eric Church, Jamey Johnson, and a handful of other up-and-coming country artists. I was all ready to go stand in line hours before the tickets went on sale to the concert when I got a phone call from work telling me I had to come in early. Disappointed, I went to work as requested. My co-worker informed me there were other ways of buying tickets for the concert besides going in person to the venue. I called the local ticket vendor and their lines were busy. I then decided to get on highspeed 4g internet to see if I could find any tickets for sale. Surprisingly, I found two tickets in the section I wanted on Ebay. I was able to purchase the tickets through the Internet with my credit card from a local ticket vendor. I was so ecstatic that I could get my tickets to the concert without even leaving my desk at work. I will never buy tickets in person again!

Excited for Hell’s Kitchen

June 18th, 2010

Hell’s Kitchen is one of my favorite shows. I have my DVR set to record it when it comes on my directv lineup Atlanta. I enjoy watching it in the morning when I get ready for work. I think Gordon Ramsay is great at what he does business wise, so he is someone that I enjoy watching on TV.

I work in sales and have to have a certain type of attitude that is similar to Gordon’s on the show. If I don’t act like I know what I am doing and train my employees well they won’t live up to the tough standards of the business. Some people think that he is rude and mean but I think that his tactics are very successful.

The show features several chefs or aspiring chefs competing for money and a head chef position at one of Ramsay’s restaurants. I think that there is a huge amount of pride in being a chef and feel the same way about my job. Each day there are lessons learned, failures and successes. No day is perfect, it is about making it to the end everyday.

I think that Hell’s Kitchen teaches a lot about what it takes to be successful in a hard business. The show also teaches the contestants what to do when they fail. In the end each person walks away having learned several lessons about competition, hard work and success.

Swiss pass pressure to Spain ahead of Davis Cup

June 2nd, 2010

Swiss Davis Cup captain Severin Luthi Wednesday put his team in an underdog position when they play Spain in this weekend’s tennis team event in the first round tie.

Spain, last year’s champion, begins its defense of the Davis Cup against the Swiss in Logrono.

The Spanish are without key players Rafael Nadal, Fernando Verdasco and Feliciano Lopez, while the Swiss are without World number one Roger Federer.

“I agree that Spain is the favorite, they are missing players, but they still have a great team,”Luthi was quoted by sports paper Marca.

“Both teams are missing important players, but we still have a chance to win and we have come here to do the best we can,” he said.

The Spanish have specially laid their favorite clay surface in the Logrono bullring, where the tie will be played, but the recent poor weather in the country has not helped its condition.

“It has improved in recent days, because it was a bit soft at the start of the week. I was hoping it would be a bit warmer, but I think it is a good venue,” commented Luthi.

Meanwhile Stanislas Wawrinka accepted the role as Swiss number one in the absence of Federer.

“I am the number one and I have that responsibility now. I am looking forward to having a good weekend,” he said.

Chilean players expect to delight their country after earthquake

June 2nd, 2010

The Chilean tennis players of the Davis Cup team expressed on Thursday their wish of giving joy to their country, after the recent earthquake, by defeating the Israeli team.

Chile and Israel will face each other on March 6, 7 and 8 in the games of Davis Cup held in Coquimbo city, 458km north to Santiago, capital of Chile.

Chilean player Fernando Gonzalez said that “we are all together for a main cause, which goes beyond a tennis match or a sport event. All of us are suffering from the pains and we must be more united than ever.”

“I am very affected by what is going on in Chile, but at the same time I am also proud of seeing the people who lose their relatives and their belongings, even though continue having strength. They are the best examples to be strong,” Gonzalez added.

Meanwhile, player Nicolas Massu said that “we are deeply sad, what happened was really terrible. I think that Chile has to surpass it, to see what is being done to aid the people is excited.”

However, the tennis players said that it would be difficult to completely concentrate on the games, when there are thousands of Chilean people suffering from the consequences of the 8.8-degree earthquake that shook the country on Saturday.

Spain’s Davis Cup defense gets off to losing start

June 2nd, 2010

Spain got its defense of the Davis Cup off to a losing start when Nicholas Almagro lost the opening singles match of its tie against Switzerland 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.

With Spain missing Rafael Nadal and Fernando Verdasco and the Swiss without World Number one Roger Federer, it was down to Almagro to start the defense of the tennis competition against Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka.

Playing on a beaten clay surface which had been laid on the covered bullring in Logro?o, Almagro got off to a perfect set winning the first set 6-3.

Wawrinka fought back and took the second set 6-4, before Almagro took what looked as if it would be a definitive lead when he won the third set 6-3 in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.

However, Wawrinka kept his nerve to take a tense fourth set by breaking Almagro’s serve in the twelfth game and then showed he was the stronger of the two players to win the fifth and final set comfortably 6-3.

Honors even after day one of Spain’s Davis Cup defense

June 2nd, 2010

David Ferrer claimed a straight sets win 6-2, 7-6 (5), 6-1 over Marco Chiudinelli to leave the Davis Cup first round tie between defending champions Spain and Switzerland finely pointed after the opening day’s singles matches.

Apart from one moment when he went a mini-break down at the start of the second set tiebreak, Spanish number one, Ferrer was rarely troubled by the Swiss number two.

The same could not be said of his teammate Nicholas Almagro, who lost a thrilling opening match in 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 to Stanislas Wawrinka as Spain got off to a terrible start in the tennis tournament for teams.

Almargo seemed to run out of steam after having his service broken in the 12th game of the fourth set and Swiss number one Wawrinka, leading his country in the absence of Roger Federer, was the stronger of the two in the final set.

Warrinka will partner Yves Allegro against Tommy Robredo and Marcel Granollers in Saturday’s doubles match with the two remaining singles to be disputed on Sunday.

Ferrer beats Wawrinka to send Spain into Davis Cup quarters

June 2nd, 2010

Spain’s David Ferrer beat Stanislas Wawrinka Sunday in straight sets 6-2, 6-4, 6-0 to give Spain an unassailable 3-1 lead in their Davis Cup tie against Switzerland.

Ferrer had few problems beating the Swiss number one in a totally lop-sided affair, which was played in the covered bullring in the city of Logrono.

His triumph means that the reigning Davis Cup holders are into the next round and that the finals singles rubber between Nicolas Almargo and Marco Chiudineli was irrelevant, although Almagro win easily 6-1, 6-3.

Spain had to come from behind to win the tie. Things started badly on Friday when Almagro lost the opening singles match to Wawrinka in a five set thriller.

Ferrer then defeated Chiudineli in four sets to end the first day with scores even.

Tommy Robredo and Marcel Granollers justified Spain captain, Albert Costa’s faith in them as they took the doubles in four sets on Saturday and that set up Ferrer to win the tie in style on Sunday.

Spain will now play France, which ousted Germany 4-1, in the quarterfinals.
